After one year of learning ballroom, a month working out hard in various type of dancing, I tried out my first ever ballroom competition last night. I was nervous. I was so nervous that I felt my lips muscles tweaking when I forced myself to smile at the first dance. We made some serious mistakes in the semi-final, but good enough to get us to the next and final round. The final was easier as we achieved what we set to do - get to the final. I was able to smile without the great effort like earlier. Yet, I couldn’t dance like when I practice. The final result isn’t bad - 4th place.
It was a fun experience for me. For a girl like me doesn’t like to dress up, doing the ballroom in full custom was a challenge. I was up at 6am to get ready for my competition at noon. My mom helped me a little on my hair on the final touch. The make up was expensive, as I had to buy many things that I didn’t have. I am happy with the end look. It isn’t perfect, but pretty good for first timer.
Very pretty! Congrats on a good first competition!
wow you look amazing! and congratulations on doing so well on your first competition
Thanks! I am going to compete again this Saturday. This time I will have to wake up even earlier to get ready. I don’t look forward to that. I am very nervous as this is one of the biggest North America’s ballroom competition. There will be almost 30 couples in our level to compete. I am not sure if this time we will even make it to the final round. Wish me luck! =D
