Dance till I drop …

Posted on Thursday 2 November 2006

My progress of using up my dance classes package has been going well. I have 1 more class left, then I am done! For 3.5 weeks, I finished 13 dance classes. I tried power yoga, ballet, jazz, boardway jazz and hip hop.

Jazz & boardway jazz are tough classes, but fun, and their moves are sexy! Jazz uses a lot of the core muscles. In the 1.5 hrs class, there is half the time doing warm up / stretching / abs work out. Music is always great.
Ballet gives good training for balance, which is similar to yoga. I like the ballet class has a pianist to play us live music. Having some ballet training in my childhood helped me to follow the classes better. Yet, I am only taking ballet intro / 1. I have forgotten so much ballet I learnt in the past. Plus, my joints are a lot stiffer now.

The craziest that I’ve done was 3 dance sessions in one day - hip hop (1h), ballet (1.5h) & ballroom (2h). I paid the price the next day - very sored legs, and affected my next ballroom practice. It is for real that I am going to ballroom competition this month! I have the dress ready. This coming Sunday, I will practice on my ballroom make-up and hair do-up with help, of course, and will have my last practice on the competition floor before the real one in the following weekend. I am scared.

I don’t expect that we will get good result at the competition. It will be lucky if I don’t make a mess and cause us to have the lowest score. This will be my warm up to one of the biggest North American ballroom competition in February. umm … in the beginner’s level =p
