Garibaldi Lake

Posted on Wednesday 20 July 2005

On a beautiful sunny Sunday, I took Jin’s invitation and joined others with total of 8 people hiked at Garibaldi Lake Area. It was my first hiking ever. I was happy that my hiking shoes had finally made good used for what they are meant for.

I was a bit worried my inexperience in hiking may be a burden to the group. For me having a pair of hiking boots I felt that I had a good start. Food was my other concern. One time I heard from my friend that she didn’t bring enough food and hiking with empty stomach wasn’t fun. For that, I brought lots of snacks that I later realised I was a little over kill. Overall, I think I did pretty well. I just need to have bug spray and sunblock to protect myself better.

The hike took 9 hours, and we covered 24km roughly. The last 8km was painful for me. I was so exhausted and my legs just didn’t feel like mine when we finished the hike. Yet at this very moment, I still feel the sorness in my legs, but it was all for the great cost - breath taking scenic views that none of my pictures can do the justice of what I’ve seen in my own eyes. I am very proud that I did it, and I am happy that I got to know few friends better, plus meeting new people who are all very nice. Thank you Jin again for inviting me, and take me to one of the most scenic hike in B.C.!

Nothing said more than the pictures.

You know you’re a runner when: You see amazing photos of a hike and the second thing you think (right after, “woah that’s awesome”) is “I wanna run that!”. :)
