California, here I come

Posted on Sunday 19 June 2005

Ticket is booked for me to visit San Fransico the first time ever in my life for the long weekend of Canada’s & America’s birthdays. The purpose of this trip is to join Kevin to attend his friends Chris & Courtney’s wedding. I am excited going there to see the city for the first time, but yet feeling a bit unreal. The reason being is that Kevin is not there in SF. He said he will be there and all, but yet no arrangment at this point. I am wondering where is the wedding? where am I going to stay? don’t even mind if there will be anyone to pick me up from the airport. I am sure Kevin has everything under control when the time comes. Even not, I am sure I will be fine as my London friends got me a good guide book for the city. I am sure I will have fun on that long weekend =)

SF is fun, and probably the best way to tour the city (actual SF city) is to bring a pair of incredibly comfy walking shoes and have at it. For the other parts (ie. Stanford, Berkeley), they are mostly little pockets of activity … so shoot yourself there on the CalTrain or BART system, and then walk around the blocks and stores and shops and local attractions.

I find that visiting most cities can be done best on foot, because you miss a lot of what the place really is about when you take a bus and only visit point spots.

    Hi Katherine

SF is a terrific city and I’m confident that Kevin will show you a great time here. He’ll have you lined up with somewhere to stay I’m sure.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at our wedding!

    Chris

Kathryn: Gim and I are living not too far from San Francisco (in San Jose)–let us know if there’s anything we can do to help, questions we can answer, etc.
