My Last Day of Work in London

Posted on Wednesday 22 December 2004

The past few days in London have been very cold. Today was another cold day. Putting on my sweater (jumper) the first time this winter, I went to work at the usual time like I had been doing for the past year, but today was different. It was my last day of work.

This morning the Underground was more quiet than usual. There were many empty seats. Perhaps people had started their Christmas Holiday already. In addition to the cold weather, loneliness seemed to fill the air.

The project that I had been working hard on is still going full speed with tasks that need to be done before Christmas. Everyone was very busy with their work, trying to tidy things up before the end of the year. I, on the other hand, with a different pace, different mind, tidied up my desk. I know I am ready to depart.

My colleagues / friends, made my last day special by taking me out for some Indian food. It was quite a different experience from others I had. I am happy that Kevin B., Pete and Ann took me out, since we did a big lunch with almost the entire office just few days ago. At the end of the day, the office presented me with a farewell card and a gift. The gift is a lovely silver bracelet filled with hearts which I am wearing now.

With many best wishes, hugs and kisses, I said my goodbyes to my friends and colleagues and left the building for the last time, officially completing my last day of work in London. The evening is still cold, but my heart is warmed with many friends that I will miss.

It took me a while to remember that you guys are doing the joint blog thing. I was about to give Kevin some serious harassment for wearing a silver bracelet filled with hearts. =)
