Christmas Dinner

Posted on Monday 6 December 2004

The past Friday night was my office Christmas Dinner at Embassy London, which is a membership only restaurant/club. The party was great. It has been a while since I needed to dress up, and it was my first time dressing up for this office. I was happy that I received many nice compliments for my efforts in wearing a skirt and high heels. One told me that it was a pleasant suprise to see me not wearing jeans and Blundstones. Once again, I proved my theory right. If I spend the time everyday to dress pretty to work, then on any special occasions, it will require a lot more effort to top my everyday look.

Interesting behaviour and outstanding outfits can get lots of attention and make the night more fun and memorable. One example was our office accountant, Kevin B. He got annoyed by people trying to take his photo. The more he resisted, the more people wanted to take his photo. Another was our Scotsman, David, who wore his kilt. He got much attention from the ladies and some harrsement as well. I didn’t take part, but it was funny to watch.

Kevin is thinking of having a Christmas party at home this coming Friday. I personally am not ready for all the work that needs to be done, but I’m sure we will manage. It will be our farwell party as well to our London friends as we have decided to leave London for good on 30 Jan. My last day of work will be 21 Dec. I am very excited to start our new chapter, even though I don’t have any plans yet for what I will be doing.

These parties sound like fun! Last week, I experienced what I think was nostalgia for office parties (the dressing up, and having a good time on the company’s tab). :)
