Most of you (hi kev!) have already known that I am working full time in London. Finding job in London was easier than I expected. I guess since most design firms prefer using recuritment agencies to find them the right people. I used a recuritment agency that specialised in design fields. They respond me quickly after I emailed them my CV - 10 mins. Met with them to show what I have, and talked about what kind of role / job I am looking for in my industry. I found the interview with them was really good. It was my first interview in London, and I hadn’t had a interview for job for long time. It was a good warm up and was refreshing. The agency gave me some advice on interviewing process, and my portfolio. After the interview, I felt that I put myself in the market, like a stock - ready for sale!! I believe I am a “hot” item …heehee… with a very efficient agent (this part is more true =p), and some luck - they found me a temporary job in an architecture firm, without an interview. I was there for 3 weeks. While I was working at my first job, the agency scheduled me an interview with my current employer. After two interviews, I was hired just a week before the Christmas Holiday. Starting on March 1, I am a full-time staff in Moser.
For having this easy time finding a job, I have to thank my friend who gave me the name of the agency. Thank you Steve Duncan!! Tried the cold calls / emails … nothing comes as fast and as positive as the agency. I wished I was smarter and used Steve’s information right at the start.
So far my London experience has been amazing. I have dreamt about working and living in a different country to travel, but never thought that it would become to reality. I feel very lucky. Very lucky that I have Kevin to take me, show me the world, and more importantly… share this experience together.
Remembering last year starting in February, Kevin and I would see each other once a month until June when I joined him in London. This year, starting in February, we are apart once a month for a week due to his travels. In February, Kevin flew back to Vancouver during his reading week for a break, and joined his friend’s wedding. Today, he flew to Austin, Texas, for SXSW’s Interactive Festival as his OK/Cancel web site is the nominee on Humor / Satire Web Award Category. I hope OK/Cancel will win!!! Coming Month, April, Kevin will go to Vienna, Austria for his industry conference. This time I will go as well, after his conference is over (a week time), and we will see the city together. Not sure what will come up in May?!?
Hey Katheryn, were you at HLW when I met up with you and Kev in London?
yes…I was. Thank for listening to me go on and on ….
