Gypsy?!?

It has been a long time since I last wrote. Someone has pointed out to me that my blog is a travel journal. This year, I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to visit many places. Kevin and I have been dating for almost a year, and places that we have been….now thinking back, it is pretty crazy. Not counting places / cities, just countries that we have both set foot on together, including our home; we have been to 7 counties so far. I have always wanted to travel when I was growing up, but I never seemed to have the chance. Kevin deserves much credit for that.

After my “Tour de France” trip, I returned to Vancouver in September and applied for my Holiday Working Visa for the UK. I think I was pretty lucky when it came to the UK visa. Before coming to London last time, I looked into my visa options. The Holiday Working Visa wasn’t an option for me at all as the applicants needed to be under the age of 28 but the rule changed on August 25, 2003. The visa is now good for people who are under 31! How weird is it that Kevin unknowingly booked my ticket return on the date that the visa change took effective?!

A month and a half back home in Vancouver, this time we had a full house =). My sister was back from Hong Kong for 3 weeks. It was nice to have everyone together, which hadn’t happened in years. My sister and I enjoyed the family thing so much that we didn’t want to share our time with anyone but our family. I was very happy that I spent my last 20s birthday with my family. Home just seems warmer and happier when everyone is there.

Before coming back to London to join Kevin again with my visa, I was thinking about the number of times I’d moved in my life so far. Since I moved back and forth with the same addresses a few times, and temporarily stayed at friends’ homes at times, I just counted the different addresses that I had registered in my life. The answer was 18 times! I was quite in shock when I figure that out, and I know I may move within London again soon with Kevin.

Am I a gypsy? I guess I am to a degree, especially this year, but I think I am a gypsy with style ;)
