People who live in the city are not very motivated to visit their local tourist attractions. They have a different perspective and ways to discover their city. But, when you have a friend visiting from other country, you as a host, will show them the city, bring them to the tourist attractions which there are times you might have never been.
Kevin probably doesn’t see me as a tourist, so he is not very excited to show me around the city, but he has plans already for us to go beyond this city and to visit other countries / cities in Europe. In the past two weeks, Kevin has two visits from his Vancouver friends. As a host, Kevin took Judy, Herbert and I to the best fish and chip place in London called Rock and Sole Plaice which he was told by a local, and the famous flea market: Camden Town. For his 2nd guest: Anita, Kevin took us to Tower of London and to enjoy UK national food: Indian, at an Indian town in Brick Lane.
Our visitors of course have done their research for sites that they would like to visit in London. Judy and Herbert took us to the Natural History Museum got ourselves a little educational tour from Dinosaur to leafcutter ant colony. Anita stayed with us for 4 days. While Kevin is at work, Anita and I did historical tours at Stonehenge and Windsor Castle, and saw the Guard Change at Buckingham Palace.
I had great time with Kevin’s friends seeing the city.
